Restoring Positive Health - Albany WA

Chronic Medical Conditions

The multidisciplinary team at South Coast Sports Medicine can help with the management and treatment of a range of medical conditions. Working alongside your previous / current health professionals, the team will prescribe exercises specific to your case.

Growing evidence supports that prevention is effective in reducing the effect of chronic conditions, and that lifestyle changes can help reduce the symptoms of chronic conditions. Exercise is an important part of managing conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and mental health. Our exercise specialists can also assist with chronic pain management, weight management and cardiac and respiratory conditions.

Individually-prescribed exercise has been shown to help with osteoporosis by improving bone mineral density in postmenopausal women and helping to build muscle strength, improve posture and improve balance. Research has also shown improved symptoms in those with arthritis, easing the burden on joints and reducing pain. Exercise can also help manage type 2 diabetes with improved insulin sensitivity and glucose control.

Our trained professionals also offer bone density, balance, strength and diabetes classes, which can be made more affordable through Medicare and Private Health Rebates.

We recommend you book an initial appointment with one of our Sports Doctors who will work alongside the health professionals at South Coast Sports Medicine to treat your needs.
